Getting to Santa Fe

Santa Fe Workshops is located 60 miles north of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the IHM Retreat Center property in Santa Fe. Albuquerque International Sunport is the main airport that serves the Santa Fe area. We suggest you rent a car or use a shuttle service from the airport. Shuttle buses make multiple roundtrips daily. If you are staying on campus ask to be dropped off at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops at 50 Mt. Carmel Rd. Contact Groome Transportation to make a reservation at (505) 474-5696, or visit

There is also very limited service in and out of the Santa Fe airport through American Airlines and United Airlines. Roadrunner Shuttle operates out of the Santa Fe airport (505) 424-3367.

It is very important to confirm your workshop status before making travel arrangements.

Santa Fe is located at 7,000 feet in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The air is dry (usually about 15-25% humidity) and the sun is strong, so remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, and chapstick.

If you feel out of breath or sluggish, it's probably the altitude. Drink plenty of water; alcohol and caffeine are dehydrating. Dehydration may also cause headaches so, again, drink lots of water, try ibuprofen, and pace yourself..

Santa Fe enjoys one of the best climates in the world. All four seasons are glorious. Summer days are hot and sunny, with cool evenings. Winter sees plenty of sunshine, and often plenty of snow. Fall is, quite simply, perfect.
